Chapter 3 How Dare You Strike Back

"Why?" Logan frowned.

"I suspect you stole something from the house."

Emma rudely said, "Until we figure it out, you absolutely cannot leave."

"I've already signed the divorce agreement, so stop giving me a hard time." Logan suppressed his anger.

"Who's giving you a hard time?"

"I'm just doing what I need to do!"

"You were so quick to sign the divorce agreement without asking for anything. It's hard not to be suspicious!"

"So, I have to figure it out before I let you go!"

Emma crossed her arms, her aura imposing.

"I have something to do, I don't have time to deal with you."

Logan was ready to leave directly.

"You're not allowed to leave! Otherwise, I will call the police."

Emma stepped forward and grabbed Logan's wicker suitcase.

"Let go!"

Logan's gaze suddenly turned cold.

Emma suddenly felt a chill all over her body, as if she was being stared at by some terrifying beast.

That feeling of facing despair was something she had never experienced before.

Just then.

"Beep beep beep..."

A car drove directly into the villa's courtyard.

Noman, a tall and strong man, jumped out of the car and rushed over, grabbing Logan's collar and yelling, "Logan, what are you doing? How dare you lay a hand on my cousin?"

"I didn't." Logan replied.

"I didn't? I saw it with my own eyes, and you dare to deny it?" Noman shouted loudly.

At that moment, Barbara, dressed up and glamorous, also got out of the car.

She intentionally pulled a smug smile on her face.

"Noman, don't be so rude. After all, he is your ex-brother-in-law. Be polite to him."

"Bah, I don't have such a useless brother-in-law. What a joke!"

Noman spat fiercely, forcefully pushing Logan away and wiping his hand with disdain.

"Mother-in-law."

Logan politely addressed Barbara.

"Don't call me mother-in-law, we have no relationship anymore." Barbara sneered.

Logan's expression darkened, but he didn't say much.

In the three years of their marriage, this mother-in-law had a strong dislike for him and never treated him well.

Now that they were finally divorced, she was probably overjoyed.

"Logan, I know you feel wronged after the divorce."

"But, self-awareness is important."

"She is thriving in her career now, she's the hope of our House Beaumont. We can't let people know that she had a useless husband, it would affect her future. Don't you agree?"

"Divorce is the best outcome for both of you."

Barbara spoke eloquently and grew more pleased with herself.

Logan's face gradually grew gloomy, his fist clenched tightly.

Since they were already divorced, why sprinkle salt on the wound?

"What do you want to say?" Logan asked through gritted teeth.

"Oh, nothing. I just want to make sure if you took any of our family's belongings."

Barbara got straight to the point, "Our belongings are quite valuable. Like jewelry, collectibles... If you took something without permission, that wouldn't be good!"

After speaking, she cast a meaningful glance at the wicker suitcase in Logan's hand.

Logan finally understood.

They stopped him because they were afraid he would secretly take away their belongings.

They were going too far!

"We won't give you a hard time. Just let us inspect the suitcase. If there's no issue, you can go!" Barbara arrogantly said.

"What if I refuse?" Logan suddenly spoke up.

"What did you say?"

Barbara's face fell. She didn't expect Logan to be so ungrateful.

"This is my suitcase. No one will open it without my permission."

Logan pronounced each word with a dominating air that brooked no dissent.

"Not letting us open and inspect it only proves that you have something to hide!" Barbara angrily retorted.

"Who has something to hide, only that person knows."

Logan stared at Barbara with icy eyes, "House Beaumont owes me, but I have nothing to apologize for to House Beaumont!"

For some reason, Barbara was actually frightened and took a step back.

In her impression, this timid son-in-law always had a smile on his face, a guy who couldn't assert himself.

How could he have such a dominant side?

"You finally reveal your true colors, young man."

"Are you trying to play tricks on me with that little trick? I think you deserve a beating!" Noman immediately rolled up his sleeves and walked over, clenching his fist. He swung a punch towards Logan's face. Unexpectedly, Logan reached out and effortlessly grabbed his wrist. Then he exerted a slight pressure with his palm.

"You... Let go of me!" Noman felt a sharp pain in his wrist, instantly turning his face purple with agony. "Speaking of uselessness, you are the epitome of uselessness, aren't you? You're already in your twenties and can't find a decent job, always living off others and drinking their blood. Are you a leech?" Logan scoffed.

"Damn dog, have the guts to let go of me. I..."

"Slap!" A powerful slap landed on Noman's face, knocking out his front teeth and causing blood to flow from his mouth. Seeing Noman being hit, Barbara became frantic. She lunged forward, ready to fight Logan.

"Bang!" Logan suddenly kicked, directly smashing the vase in front of Barbara into pieces. Barbara was startled and dared not approach anymore. "I've been lenient with you because of Hazel's sake. But now that we're divorced, I don't need to indulge you anymore," Logan's tone was cold. "If anyone dares to disrespect me, they will end up like this vase!"

His voice was like thunder, deafening the ears! Under his icy gaze, Emma was too scared to even make a phone call to the police. This Logan was truly terrifying!

"From now on, you go your way in the sunshine, and I'll go mine on a lone bridge. Nobody should bother me!" After finishing his words, Logan picked up his suitcase and walked out. His figure appeared aloof and lonely.

Only after Logan had completely left did the people inside the house finally dare to breathe. Noman covered his mouth and pitifully said with missing front teeth, "Mom, I can't let this useless guy hit me for nothing, right?"

"Don't worry, son! I won't let you suffer this loss," Barbara reassured him. "This is just utterly ridiculous! I don't believe that no one can control him!"

While saying this, Barbara took out her phone.

...

Hazel parked the car on the entrance ramp of the expressway, lost in her thoughts. Tears involuntarily filled her eyes as she recalled every little detail of her time with Logan. Her disguise was torn apart, and she began to feel the pain in her heart. She should never have let this man endure such suffering. However, reality forced her to make a choice. Is social status really that important in marriage? She didn't know! But she had no choice but to choose this way!

Just then, her phone suddenly rang. Hazel wiped away her tears and answered the call, speaking in a calm voice, "Mom."

"Hazel, where are you? Something big has happened!" Barbara's grating voice came from the other end of the line.

"What's wrong?"

"That useless Logan went crazy and beat up your brother!"

"What did you say?"

Hazel trembled, thinking she had heard wrong.
