Re-Birth

The sun set in a blaze of colors of the kingdom, painting the sky with hues of blue and pink. Princess Tatiana stood on a balcony, her blond hair flowing down her back, glowing. The breeze carried beautiful scents of roses and lilacs. Turning around looking through the glass door that led from her balcony to her bedroom she could see herself laying in the bed, Guards surrounding her body. Tears running down her cheeks. The maid was laughing holding a goblet, looking closer Tatiana could see a red liquid run down the corners of her mouth as she lay there motionless.

Tatiana touched her own lips to see if there was any liquid running down her mouth or was it just her still body laying in the bed. Suddenly she could taste this liquid sending waves of pain throughout her body. Watching her silent body suddenly convulse. Looking around the balcony, she came to the realization she was dead, they killed her. Looking down at herself, is this her soul standing here?

“Tatiana” A woman’s voice called out to her. I looked around to see who belonged to the voice. Within a blink of an eye a woman appeared in white, beautiful with glowing bright skin. She had a Long white gown on. Her smile filled me with love. “H.. Hello?” she didn’t know who she was but was cautious as to what she should say.

Smiling, filling Tatiana with love, “You have passed on my child. The darkness overtook your happiness, and you paid a very expensive price for that. You will be reborn to guide your feet into peace. Do not take this for granted.” She faded off into a mist and floated off.

Tatiana reached out, trying to catch the mist but her hand waved through it like air. Coughing, holding her chest with a hand, she awoken looking into a woman’s face. Her skin was wrinkled from the sun and her hair was gray and pulled into a bun. She had a nun’s habit on, an older woman, she was smiling at her. “I’m glad you have woken up, been sleepin for days.”

“Who are you?” Tatiana asked between couphs.

“Sarah, you know who I am silly girl, and a saint should not spend her days sleeping, get up, get dressed and let’s get some food in your belly.” She stood up and left the room.

Trying to remember her dream about the beautiful woman, Tatiana concluded she was reborn as a saint that she always wanted to be. I can truly love and care for others now, Tatiana thought to herself

She got dressed and headed to the garden where the other nuns and saints were eating. They all greeted her as Greta. So, she took the name as her own. Tatiana must have been reborn in this new body. Wonder if Greta died also and my soul was replaced into her body? Tatiana thought to herself trying to make sense of everything.

Maybe one day she will have a talk with Sarah, maybe she was sent with her soul to help navigate her new life.

Sarah seemed to have known Greta her entire life and was always helping her, but Greta wondered if Sarah e was an Angel sent to help her be a righteous saint since her last life as Tatiana didn’t turn out that great. Maybe she was just old friends with Greta before she was reborn into her body. Hopefully she will find out one day maybe.

Tatiana still had all her memories before being poisoned. Everyone who poisoned her, why they did it and she wondered what happened to her husband and Alexander and all the other cruel people. Reflecting on her previous life and how cruel she became. Just like the others, she let the darkness take her over, a true saint would not let that happen. Tears started to flow from her blue eyes, wiping them away with the back of her hand.

After a few months of being Greta she went to the altar and knelt in front of the cross. With her head lowered silently praying. Hearing loud footsteps walking in from the front door of the church with clinking metal on the stone floors and rattling of chains on metal got her attention. She started to get anxious and a little afraid, most people have leather shoes and not metal. She started to pray to keep herself safe from whoever it is.

The footsteps stopped behind her. Someone must need to confess their sins and sometimes they just need to talk. Knowing this, Greta had a job to do.

Standing up and turning to look to see who it was. A tall man in silver-black armor with a long sword appeared in the church. He was broad, Greta could tell he was very muscular under all that metal. He resembles a knight, just a few knights had ever came to pray. Just walking inside the church knowing that they are killer’s and killing is an unforgivable sin and that is one sin that cannot be washed away.

“I’m Greta and I presume why you are here, but I will tell you all the praying will not remove or forgive killing another human being, no matter who you worship that one sin will never go away.” She stood with her hands clasped in front of her. Waiting for a response.

There was only one that knelt before her before she was poisoned and that was Alexander. But he wanted her forgiveness for all his sins. They had become very close during that time, praying together before he would leave the estate. She prayed that he would return, she missed him dearly.

The Knight bent and kneeled in front of her, she could feel his sadness, he was lonely, the sense of hopelessness was so strong. Making her nervous and anxious, she started to fidget with her cape. “Well, my knight, since you are aware killing will not wash away, I can let you talk to me about your other sins.”

Looking up in her eyes from his helmet, he moved slowly but deliberately with caution so as not to frighten her. Standing up to his full height, He knew that she was not accustomed to Knights in the church and could tell he didn’t want to frighten her.

Greta couldn’t take her eyes from his gaze; they were deep gold with flickers of white. she was mesmerized, feeling like she was being watched by a leopard. Waiting for her to move. she should be scared but she's not, those eyes…she knew those eyes but how?

Blinking hoping maybe the color would change to Green instead of deep gold, well, they didn’t change so she just stood there. hoping he would talk, but so far he hadn’t said a word, deciding to wait till he was ready.
