Chapter 3 Charity Dinner

"Okay," she nodded readily, silently relieved that the deal was done.

With a two-month buffer period, their marriage wouldn't seem strange to outsiders.

Two weeks later, Alice Brown had performed an 8hour surgery and her feet had lost all feeling. While resting, she opened her phone, she saw five missed calls from unfamiliar numbers.

Her intuition told her that they were calls from Benjamin Gregory.

Hesitating for a moment, she decided to make the call.

After a few rings, a deep lazy male voice came through the earpiece, "Hello!”.

"Benjamin Gregory?" From the moment she heard his voice, she was already sure it was him, but still cautiously asked.

"Yeah, it's me." Benjamin Gregory furrowed his brows at being called by his full name, she was the first one to do so.

"I just completed a surgery. Is there something you need?" A person as cold-natured as him wouldn't call her without a reason.

"Accompany me to a charity dinner tonight."

"Sure, prepare a set of clothes and a stylist for me." She was asking for a favor after receiving eighty thousand, so she couldn't push too hard.

"Come down, I'm at the entrance."

He's at the hospital entrance? "Huh?"

"Come down!" Benjamin Gregory became impatient.

Alice Brown was startled and immediately got up, hurriedly changed her clothes, and ran downstairs without even putting on her coat. Judging by his impatient tone, he must have been waiting for a while.

Seeing Alice Brown walking out of the hospital lobby from outside the car window, Benjamin Gregory couldn't help but notice... how long had this woman not taken care of herself?

For the first time, a woman came to meet him like this, it was truly unexpected.

Benjamin Gregory suddenly honked the horn.

"Get in the car."

Alice Brown, who was standing in front of the car, was startled. She was about to ask when suddenly...

Benjamin Gregory's face was seen through the lowered car window.

"This man is impatient!!!" she thought angrily.

But she couldn't lose her temper, so she got into the car with a huff, slammed the door, expressing her discontent.

Seeing her sulking appearance, Benjamin Gregory spoke slowly, "This car is one of only two in the world."

Alice Brown instantly backed down. If she damaged the car door, she couldn't afford to compensate for it, even if they sold her.

Weakly, she asked, "Where are we going?"

Benjamin Gregory glanced at her with disdain, not bothering to hide it.

"To the place that will turn you into a woman."

Only then did she remember that she had just come down from the operation table without having the chance to tidy up before running off.

Looking in the mirror, Alice Brown was almost scared by her own tired, haggard appearance, with bloodshot eyes.

"I... I just had an eight-hour surgery and couldn't tidy up. I don't usually look like this..."

Benjamin Gregory scoffed lightly, focusing solely on driving.

Half an hour later, they arrived outside an inconspicuous villa.

"Follow me," Benjamin Gregory impatiently urged Alice Brown, who was lost in thought.

Alice Brown snapped out of it and hurriedly followed him inside.

As soon as they entered, she was handed over to a stylist who looked effeminate, named Tony, along with his assistants.

"Get her ready."

Immediately, countless hands began to fuss and work on her body, face, and hair. It all felt like a dream. In fact, she even fell asleep multiple times during the process. When she finally woke up again, she found herself standing at the entrance of a hotel banquet hall next to Benjamin Gregory.

She was wearing a yellow strapless chiffon dress, embellished with yellow diamond earrings. Her makeup was subtle yet sophisticated, exuding a timeless and elegant charm.

Alice Brown subtly scanned the men around her. The refined tailoring of their suits accentuated their tall and slender figures. They stood there leisurely, captivating everyone's attention without needing to say or do anything else.

The two of them simply standing together was enough to draw the gaze of everyone present.

As soon as Benjamin Gregory, the head of the Gregorys Group, arrived, various people approached him, flattering and fawning over him. He was a symbol of power, and everyone hoped to gain his favor and establish a partnership with the Gregorys Group for a certain business venture.

Meanwhile, Alice Brown had to accompany them with a smile throughout the whole event.

She felt her face stiffening. She had finally found an opportunity to sneak away to catch her breath, but unexpectedly, her nemesis had come knocking on her door.

Watching Suzie intimately holding Hans's hand as they approached her, she couldn't help but roll her eyes.

Hans had noticed immediately when she had walked in earlier, arm in arm with Benjamin Gregory.

The thought of her having a new flame right after their breakup, even dressed so alluringly, and especially after entering with that man by her side, made Hans very angry. Unable to contain himself, he sarcastically remarked, "I say, who is that next to Gregory? Isn't that Doctor Brown?"

Alice Brown inwardly frowned, finding Hans's sarcastic tone irritating.

"Alice, you mustn't fall so low. If you need money, I can lend it to you," Suzie quickly added.

Alice Brown had only wanted to find a place to catch her breath, too tired to argue tonight, and just wanted to leave.

But Hans blocked her path. "Do you really think someone like Benjamin Gregory would be interested in you? He just wants to play with you. I suggest you come back to me willingly for the sake of your mother's illness."

Alice Brown felt like she had been blind all along!

Taking a deep breath to remain calm, she replied, "Whether he wants to play with me or not is none of your concern. We broke up a long time ago, so don't bother me anymore, or you'll regret it."

Hans was unwilling to accept this. "Ah, Alice Brown, what happened to your innocence? Now you're being played by someone else?" She had never allowed him to go further before, and now she had become someone else's woman.

"Your friend?"

Feeling a tightening around her waist, Benjamin suddenly appeared next to her.

Hans had obviously noticed too. As a man, he couldn't help but acknowledge that Benjamin Gregory's inherent cold and noble aura made him feel entirely insignificant.

Seeing Benjamin wrap his arm around her as if asserting his dominance, Hans became insanely jealous.

It was Suzie, however, whose eyes were transfixed on the handsome and rich business genius, Benjamin Gregory.

Hans took the initiative to step forward and extended his hand. "Hello, Benjamin. I'm Hans."

Alice Brown felt that his introduction was lacking detail, so she took the opportunity to introduce Benjamin Gregory again. "This is Hans, my ex-boyfriend, and Suzie, my best friend. The two of them were fooling around a few weeks ago, caught in the act by me."

The two individuals on the opposite side instantly looked upset.

"Gregory, don't let this woman's appearance deceive you. We used to have a lot of fun together, and goodness knows how many men she sees behind closed doors," Hans sneered.

"Hans, keep your foul mouth shut! One more word, and you'll be hearing from my lawyer!" Benjamin interrupted with a stern voice.

"I'll tear apart your mouth if you insult me again!" Alice Brown's chest heaved, unable to contain her anger any longer.

She tightly gripped Benjamin Gregory's arm, afraid that she would collapse in anger.

"When did it become your turn to criticize my fiancée?" Benjamin Gregory stared at Hans, his dark eyes growing colder, and his thin lips forming a cold hard line.
