Chapter 7 A Necklace Worth Two Billion Dollars

With Gavin gone, the Powell family glared angrily at Harper, especially Zoe, who rushed forward as if possessed.

"You bastard! I brought you and your grandmother here just for you to deal with me, didn't I? Today, I'm going to teach you a lesson."

Zoe raised her hand to strike Harper, but before she could reach Harper's face, Harper grabbed her hand.

Arching an eyebrow with a cold gleam in her eyes, Harper's voice turned icy. "Put away your claws, or I'll destroy them."

"You!" Zoe clutched her chest, her face turning pale. "Alright, alright. You're capable, right? I want to see how you take care of your half-dead grandmother without the Powell family."

Harper sneered. "Up to you!"

Did these people really think they could threaten her with her grandmother? If she hadn’t want to come to Sitges City, who could have forced her?

$400,000 a month for medical expenses, was that high? So many people were eager to give her money, but it was up to her whether she accepted it or not.

Harper couldn't be bothered with the Powell family. As she was about to leave, the private room door was suddenly pushed open again. It was Gavin.

"I'm back."

The Powell family froze for a moment, quickly concealing their expressions. Zoe was pointing at Harper, but before she could scold her, the words got stuck in her throat.

Gavin glanced lightly at the Powell family and walked straight to Harper. He had a delicate gift box in his hand and handed it to her as if no one else was there. "I forgot to give this to you. It's a gift for you."

Harper raised an eyebrow and took the gift box, immediately opening it.

After seeing what was inside the box, everyone gasped in shock.

Someone couldn't help but exclaim, "This... this is the Crystal Heart?"

Another person immediately echoed, "Oh my god, it's really the Crystal Heart! This is the necklace by the famous designer DK. L, and there's only one in the world."

"Not just that, two years ago this necklace was put up for auction. It's said that someone bid $2 billion and took it, but nobody knows who bought it. It turns out it was Mr. Brooks."

Someone quickly said, "Mr. Brooks actually gave such a precious gift to this wild girl, what a waste!"

Listening to the discussions of others, Piper's face instantly darkened, and the jealousy in her eyes was about to overflow.

Her heart was beating violently.

This one and only, extremely precious necklace should have been hers.

She had personally given this opportunity to Harper.

Her fingers clenched tightly, and she was almost biting her own red lips to pieces. She could hear her heart bleeding.

Even if Gavin was disfigured, even if he only had two years to live, as long as she was Mrs. Brooks, she would be entitled to his properties. Even if it was just one-tenth, it would be enough for her for several lifetimes.

Moreover, the Brooks family never said that Gavin had to die and that she couldn't remarry. In a few years, she could still choose to marry again.

But...

Piper lowered her head. She didn't want to look at that necklace. The more she looked, the worse she felt.

Harper, who was envied by the Powell family, only glanced at the necklace before closing the box. There was no change in her expression as she calmly looked at Gavin and asked, "Do you want a gift in return?"

The Powell family couldn't understand why she could remain so calm.

Ever since Harper received the gift box, Gavin had been observing her expression, but she didn't show any reaction at all.

Did she not know the value of this necklace, or did she simply not care about anything, no matter how valuable it was?

At the thought of this, a barely visible smile appeared on Gavin's icy lips. It was interesting.

"According to the rules, it's expected," Gavin lowered his eyes and looked at Harper. "But if you're not prepared, it's fine."

"Is that so?" Harper touched her chin with her fair fingers and thought seriously. It seemed that she didn't have anything to give in return.

After thinking for a long time, Harper reached into her pocket and took out something small.

Harper poured a brown pill-like object from the ceramic bottle, saying, "Here, take this." He gave only one, being quite stingy.

Gavin stared at the unknown pill, unable to resist the urge to shiver his icy-cold lips a couple of times.

It was really...

Seeing him hesitate, Harper raised an eyebrow and asked, "Don't like it?"

Gavin coughed and took the thing from her hand, saying, "It's quite nice."

"This is my gift, no need to worry," Harper put her hands in her pockets. "Don't be deceived by its small size, this thing is quite valuable."

After thinking for a moment, Harper earnestly said, "It's even more valuable than your necklace."

The members of the Powell family were dumbfounded when Harper handed Gavin something unknown.

They all stood frozen in place, unable to react for a while.

Even Elijah, who was quite forgiving towards Harper, was momentarily at a loss.

This Harper...

He didn't prepare a gift for Mr. Brooks, and while the Powell family was prepared, she brought this thing as a meeting gift for him.

Does she even know what she's doing?

"Harper!" Zoe snapped back to her senses from the shock and couldn't hold back her anger. "How long are you going to embarrass me? How can you give this... as a meeting gift to Mr. Brooks?"

What the hell is this?

Zoe felt like Harper was driving her crazy and couldn't find the words to say.

Lucy already hated Harper and couldn't help but sneer, "I've never seen..."

Before the words "such a thing" could leave her mouth, she saw Gavin's chilly face and immediately stopped herself.

Just as the words were about to be uttered, there was a magnificent change in direction. "Do you know how much that necklace is worth?"

Harper glanced at Lucy indifferently. "Didn't you just say it's worth two billion dollars?"

"Now that you know it's worth two billion dollars, you still gave this to Mr. Brooks? Is this thing worth two billion dollars, Harper? The Powell family may not be unable to afford a meeting gift, but you can't give such a shabby thing to Mr. Brooks, right?" Lucy gloated.

It would be great if Mr. Brooks was offended by the gift and decided not to marry Harper.

Then we’d see how arrogant she can be to the Powell family!

Madam Powell was also furious, but she suppressed her anger and bowed to Gavin. "I apologize, Mr. Brooks. This child just came from the countryside and doesn't understand the rules. The Powell family will prepare a proper meeting gift."

It was her negligence. She had thought Mr. Brooks wouldn't mind this kind of formal alliance and wouldn't expect a meeting gift, so she didn't have anyone prepare it.

But now, it was truly embarrassing.

Harper didn't pay any attention to the anger the Powell’s vented to her.

The Powell family looked at Gavin casually, saying, "You can have it back if you don't want it."

"Why not?" Gavin's interest in Harper grew deeper, and as he spoke, there was a smile in his eyes and on his lips. "What is it?"

"It's something that can save lives," Harper's eyelids lifted slightly as her gaze fixed tightly on Gavin.
