Chapter 7
It was the time when I just turned 18 and was out on a business trip with my father.
After meeting with the Alpha Killian and discussing the new alliance, my father went to his office with him to sign some documents, and since I wasn't needed, I stayed behind.
Turning around, I thought of walking to relax my nerves and the wolf that was feeling unnecessarily stressed that day.
As soon as I left their pack house, it was at that time I felt it.
Mate! My wolf had chuffed in bliss.
Nodding at my wolf with a happy grin, I followed the scent to look for my mate, and it wasn't long before I found her, lying, or should I say, leaning on a tree.
From her size and smell, I knew she was an omega, but that didn't matter to me as long as she was my mate. We were not cowards, and we would love our mates no matter what.
However, as I started to come closer, I perceived another scent from her. A rogue.
Her scent was entangled in it. It only meant one thing.
She had slept with the rogue.
However, I still had some hope left in me. Maybe she did it out of circumstances? Maybe she was forced? Or maybe it was Ky because she hadn't found me then but now that I'll tell her I was her age, she would come to me.
With a new burst of hope and positivity, I started walking toward her. She must have perceived the scent coming closer because from a distance away, I saw her eyes widening before she looked my way.
Her wide blue eyes surged through my soul as I walked to her in large stripes.
‘‘Hello dear, my name is Sabastian. I am the to-be alpha of the Blood Moon pack. What is your name sweetheart?’’ I asked in the sweetest voice I didn't even know I was able to make.
‘‘Leave me alone! I don't want you! I don't want an Alpha to be my mate! No, no,’’ that girl struggled. Each of her words pierced through my heart.
‘‘Sweetheart, I won't hurt you. I am your mate. I am supposed to love you,’’ I said, before losing her arms, afraid that my tight grip would hurt her more.
‘‘I don't want you. I reject you. I reject you as my mate,’’ she screamed in my face before running backward.
Her words were so cruel and hurtful that they froze me in my place.
How can a girl be this cruel? How can a wolf be this cruel to her mate? How can she reject me like this without knowing me?
Since she hadn't used hers and my name to reject me, I knew the rejection process was completed. Thus, wanting answers to my questions about why she was doing this to me, I followed her.
For an omega, she was quick on her feet. However, when I found her, I saw her in a state I never thought I would, and it left a deep scar in my heart.
She was leaning on a tree, with a guy who had his organ shoved inside her, and they were enjoying a pleasurable session.
Growling at the wolf who was taking my mate right in front of me, I was about to pounce on him when I saw him slit her throat with a knife.
If the scene earlier wasn't enough to break me, then her slitting throat sure was.
Rushing towards her, I took her in my arms, crying as I wasn't able to do anything to save her. The silver-laced knife with wolfsbane won't let the wound heal.
I saw as she died in my arms.
I cried silently for some time, my Wolf telling me to stop it and get a grip over myself. It was truly strange how he was so calm about all of this. Maybe he was heartbroken about what she did to us and hated her. But I was different. I wanted her. I wanted my love. I wanted the only person who was bound to love and take care of me.
And from that moment on, rogues and omega became a hateful species to me. Rogues more than omega.
I respect the omega of my pack. But I would never forgive a rogue because a rogue took away my only chance of getting loved.
I was brought out of my thoughts when my phone buzzed with an incoming call.
‘‘Hello Alpha Sabastian, there is more information about the rogue that is hiding in the forest and stealing things. It is said it became a rogue after rejecting an Alpha,’’ the council head said. His words started an alarm in my head as I started seeing red.
Looks like I need to do some hunting today.
ALEXIS CLARK'S POV
‘‘Mmm..I love it so much…mm’’ I moaned in pleasure as it melted in my mouth.
‘‘Shut up and let me concentrate okay? It's tough work to hear you moan in pleasure,’’ the man who was the reason for my pleasure said with a smirk on his face.
‘‘I thought you were just muscles, you've got some skills in your hand boy. What else could you do with those skillful hands of yours?’’ I couldn't help but ask.
He was about to answer my question when the door of the room we were both in, burst open with a loud bang.
‘‘Guys, can you keep it low? I'm studying for God's sake. And Alexis, stop using such words. If someone hears you right now, they'll think you are having sex and not eating the food,’’ the girl, or should I say my new friend, hollered with a glare. Making me chuckle with a scowling face.
‘‘But his cooking is so good. Come on, taste some. The pasta he has made is just…mm…’’ I said before taking another spoonful of pasta and stuffing it in my mouth.
‘‘Girl, you have no manners whatsoever. By the way, I got mail for you. It was placed in this box on our doorstep. Mind checking it? I can't seem to find a name written over it. Seems like it is from an admirer of yours,’’ Audrey said, with a smirk, before she kissed her boyfriend, who had made this pasta and helped herself with the food.
Tearing open the envelope that had a knowing scent to it, I looked at the letter with a smile. A secret admirer of my foot. I am sure it is a letter about me. The rules I had broke within this month. Reading the content of the letter, I opened the box and was visibly surprised when I saw the jade pendant placed neatly. Well, it isn't that bad of a letter.
‘‘Wow, that's pretty. Do you know or suspect anyone who would give that to you? Strangely, there was no name on it. I mean if you're offering such a beautiful gift, at least make sure that she knows of it,’’ Audrey said, flagging her hand dramatically.
‘‘Calm down babe. Looks like our Lexi has a secret admirer. And from the smile on her face, I think this secret admirer might have a chance. I mean, look at this beauty,’’ Shane, her boyfriend said, before sitting beside her.
I looked at them before shaking my head at their behavior. They were the sweetest people I know and honestly, I am happy and proud that I decided to come here and live with the sweetest couple even if it means breaking some laws.
I like the current version of myself, much better than the earlier one. The previous one was too soft, caring, humble, and emotional for my benefit. Guess being a rogue for almost a year has its peak.
I looked at the stamp at the bottom of the letter and on top of the gift box and knew it was from the council. I don't blame those people for not knowing what it was or who the council was.
They were humans.
You guys heard it right. I was living with the humans.
