Chapter 2

No," i cried, going down on my knees

"You never deserved my mother's ring. I regret ever giving it to you." He said.

I felt stinging daggers in my heart as I watched he stared at the ring.

He is really serious about this.

He really wants to divorce me.

He just took off the ring he gave me.

The ring that came with the vows he said to me.

Oh God.

"Now, get your slutty self up, and get the hell out of my house. Leave while I am still holding down my rage. You wouldn't like what I would do to you when I come back to this house and meet you here." He said, walking past me and headed towards the door. He walked out and slammed the door hard.

I flinched.

Oh God.

How did this happen?

Why is this happening to me?

Why?!

The pictures took my attention. I picked one up. I feel so ashamed of myself staring at it.

It is so awful.

I can't even see the random man's face clearly. His face is blur. Only mine is clear.

Someone did this to me.

It's a set up.

I was set up. I mean, that's the only explanation for this! Someone set me up and took pictures of me.

He or she blocked the man's face.

I was too drunk to know this.

They set me up.

But why did they wait this long to reveal these pictures to Ernest? Right after I confirmed my pregnancy.

Do they know I am pregnant too?

God, what have I done to myself?

What have I done to my happy marriage?

I shouldn't have gone to the club that night. I should have remained here and go through the boredom as I always do.

Why did I decide to go out that night?

All these wouldn't have happened if I stayed at home and wait patiently for Ernest. .

What have you done, Kim? What have you done?!

Ernest will never forgive you!

He will never listen to you!

He will never listen to your own side of the story.

He didn't even let me speak.

He called me a slut.

A pretender.

That's not true!

I didn't do this on purpose.

I was set up.

Someone set me up.

Who could that be?

Who wants to ruin my life? Who wants to ruin my marriage like this?

I have no idea who to suspect. I have done nothing to anyone. Who would want to ruin me?

AN HOUR LATER

I paid the taxi driver and got out of the car. I took out my luggage and the driver drove away.

Sighing, I walked up to the entrance door of my parents house.

I was about pressing the door bell when the door opened, revealing my mum.

The sight of her pushed tears out of my eyes.

"Kimberly?"

"Mum," i cried as I let go of my luggage and rushed towards her. I wrapped my hands around her before she could say anything, letting all my tears out.

After some seconds, I unwrapped her and sniffled.

"Kimberly, what's wrong? Why are you here with your luggage?" She asked.

I heaved a sigh as I walked towards my luggage and dragged it closer.

"Can we go inside first? It is cold out here." I said.

Mum scoffed. "That's not happening. Why the hell are you here with your luggage?!"

I am taken aback by her tone.

"Mum,"

"Answer my question, you good for nothing child!"

I let out a breathless scoff.

"Mum?"

"Answer my question!" She yelled, surprising me once more.

Why is she like this towards me?

She is looking at me questionably, waiting for an answer.

"Who is that at this time, honey?" My dad's familiar voice interrupted. He came into view and stood behind my mum. He looked at me with surprise.

"Kimberly,”

"Dad," I almost cried but suppressed my tears.

All I want right now is a hug from them. Why aren't they holding me, or letting me in? My heart is in very bad situation right now.

"What in God's name are you doing here at this time?" He asked.

Mum scoffed, folding her hands. She is acting weirdly. Why is that?

"Kimberly," Dad called.

"Dad,"

"I asked you a question."

I didn't respond.

"Can't you speak?!" Mum snapped.

I flinched slightly.

"Calm down, Nina. Let her speak." Dad said to my mum. She scoffed.

Tears filed eyes.

"Tell us, Kimberly." Dad said.

"Mum, dad, Ernest..." I paused, looking down. My heart clenched as I struggled to speak. I braced myself. These are my parents. They are the right people to share my misery with.

"Ernest divorced me." I said without looking at them.

"What?" Mum asked.

I sobbed silently.

"He divorced you?" Dad asked.

I nodded slightly as I wiped my nose.

"Why the hell did he divorce you? What the hell have you done?!" Mum yelled, making me flinch.

"Calm down, Nina. Let's understand her own side of the story." Dad said.

"Can we.....can we have this conversation inside, please." I pleaded.

"Hell no! You are not entering this house until you tell us what you did to make your husband divorce you!" Mum yelled.

My heart tightened severely.

"Why did he divorce you?" Dad asked.

I sobbed. "He.....i.....he found out I...I cheated on him."

"What?" Dad asked.

Mum let out a mockery laughter.

"What do you mean he found out?" Dad asked.

I didn't respond but maintained my gaze down as I let out sobs.

"Kimberly, you cheated on your husband?" He asked.

"I have always known you to be a very stupid girl. I never knew you are also a cheap whore!" Mum spat, adding to my aching heart.

I sobbed the more.

"You think you can drag our family name into the mud? You are a bloody joker, Kimberly." Mum said.

"I was a mistake, mum." I sobbed.

She scoffed.

"I didn't intend for this to happen." I cried.

"Yeah right." She muttered.

"I am sorry."

"Sorry is a messed up strategy, you dirty thing." She retorted.

My heart ached continuously.

"But just so you know, you only brought shame to yourself and your unknown dead and deranged parents."

I froze.

I looked at her. She tilted her head, looking at me with boldness and nonchalance.

What? What did.....what did she just say?

"Nina," Dad warned.

"Terry, don't." She snapped at him.

"Wha....what do you mean?" I asked. My voice almost sounded like a whisper.

"Nothing. She didn't say anything. Just get you luggage and come in." Dad said.

"Hell no, Terry. Hell no!" Mum snapped. "It is time she knows the truth about her real identity!" Mum yelled, scowling at me.

I clenched the handle of my luggage nervously. Why is she like this? I have never seen her like this before.

"We are not your real parents." She said.

I froze.
