CHAPTER 3 WHAT LIES IN THE DARK

My eyes were foggy as I tried to pry them open. What happened? I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my head, making me wince. I turned slowly to the window, trying to make out the figure peering through it. His lips moved but it seemed inaudible. There was a ringing in my head that caused me to wince.

Suddenly, I heard a knock on the window. "Sir, can you step out of the vehicle?" a voice called out.

I rubbed my temples, trying to remember what had happened. I had been driving, trying to outrun the headlights that were following me...and then...

I slowly got out of the car, assessing the damage. My car had collided with another vehicle, but thankfully, it was just a minor dent on his and a broken headlight on mine.

The police officer approached me, his expression stern. "Sir, can you tell me what happened?"

I took a deep breath, trying to explain. "I was being followed," I said. "I tried to get away, but..."

The officer raised an eyebrow. "You were being followed?" He repeated. "Sir, have you been drinking?"

I shook my head, frustrated. "No, I haven't been drinking." I didn't even know if to get upset or something. "I'm telling you, someone was following me."

The officer sighed. "Sir, there's no one around. You're going to have to pay for the damages to the other vehicle, and you'll be receiving a fine for reckless driving."

I felt a surge of anger, but I knew better than to argue with the police. I reluctantly agreed to pay the fine and pay for the damages. The driver of the other car was a young woman who wanted to be anywhere but here. She wasn't even as upset as I expected.

As I watched the police officer and the other car drive away, I turned around to access my environment. I had been driving without stopping for a second to think about where I was going. I just wanted to escape whoever was following me. Speaking of which, the person was no where in sight. Yet, I couldn't help but feel irked. I got back into my car, feeling a sense of unease.

As I reversed out of the street, I turned on my GPS so it could lead me home. I had taken so many twists and turns that I had no idea where I was. As I drove home, I kept looking over my shoulder, expecting to see someone following me again.

But there was no one.

When I got home, I checked my phone, hoping that there wouldn't be any more threatening messages. But as I scrolled through my texts, I saw a new message from another unknown number:

"You can't outrun your shadow."

I felt a chill run down my spine. Who was sending these messages? And what did they want from me?

I tried to shake off the feeling of unease, telling myself that I was just being paranoid. But as I lay in bed, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me.

I tossed and turned, unable to sleep. I suddenly developed insomnia. The darkness seemed to press in around me, giving me a great feeling of nostalgia and claustrophobia.

Finally, just as the first rays of sunlight shone through my window, I fell asleep. But my rest was cut short. Just a few hours later, my phone rang, cutting through the heavy silence. I groggily picked it up, seeing my parents' number on the screen.

"Ethan, we need to see you at the office," my mother said, her voice crisp. "Your father has some important things to discuss with you."

I sighed, feeling a sense of dread. What now? Hadn't I had enough of his discussion last night?

"I'll be right there." I groaned and tossed before reluctantly getting out of bed.

I took a shower, trying to wash off the events of last night. I could still feel Liam's hands on my body. I reached down for my crotch and stroked it, all the while imagining it were his hands. The picture of his naked frame, still evergreen in my mind, made me harder. His electric blue eyes caused goosebumps to run down my skin. I stroked myself faster and harder. My phone rang in the room but I paid it no heed. I was stuck in my imaginations, picturing my mouth wrapped around Liam's long and hard cock, sucking him like a lollipop. Sucking him till he came in my throat, making me slurp down all his sperm. I moaned out loudly as I neared my peak. At the thought of him bending me over and driving his hard cock through my ass, his balls slamming my butt cheek, I pumped faster and came with a loud groan.

Turning on the shower to full force, I washed off and got dressed. The ringing from before was my mum. The least she could do was let me breathe.

As I arrived at the office, I could feel my anxiety spiking. What did my parents want to talk to me about?

As I got to the company, I was greeted by the receptionist who threw me a flirtatious smile which I ignored. Such a turn off as compared to Liam's grin.

I needed to get him out of my mind. He was bad news. His suggestion last night still angered me.

I took the private elevator up to my father's office. The doors automatically slid open. My dad was shaking hands with a man with an interestingly messy hair. My mum stood with a fake grin plastered on her face.

On seeing me, my father plastered a fake smile.

"Ah, Ethan. You're just in time to meet our new partner. Mr. Liam Thompson."

My heart skipped a beat as Liam turned around, his signature lopsided grin spreading across his face. His electric blue eyes pierced mine. His deep voice reverberated when he opened his mouth to speak.

"Hello, Mr. Blackwood."
