Chapter 4 Dancing Together

Victor raised an eyebrow and said with a confident smirk, "Well, around here, I guess there aren't many folks who don't know me."

As he spoke, he noticed Yvette's cheeks turning an even deeper shade of red, spreading across her face. Her shy demeanor amused him greatly.

In this competitive and high-pressure environment, he was used to strong women like Violet and had assumed all women had become equally tough.

But this girl in front of him was so innocent, blushing over the smallest things. It piqued his interest in getting to know Yvette better.

Victor decided to try again. This time, he knelt on one knee, his posture sincere and solemn, as if he were proposing to Yvette.

Looking into her eyes, he asked earnestly, "May I have this dance?"

Yvette was startled by Victor's sudden gesture. She quickly waved her hand to refuse, forgetting she was holding a cup of juice. The green liquid spilled out, landing squarely on Victor's sleeve, soaking a large area.

Yvette jumped up in shock, instinctively trying to check on Victor. In her haste, she accidentally bumped her head against his chin.

Victor yelped and fell backward onto the floor.

Seeing this, Yvette was filled with guilt and panic. She stepped back, grabbed some napkins from the table, and knelt beside Victor, frantically trying to clean up the mess.

Victor, noticing her nervous and apologetic expression, quickly said, "It's okay. I can clean it myself."

Yvette realized their current position and actions looked somewhat intimate. Just then, the music stopped, and people around them began to notice the commotion in the corner.

Whether it was because Yvette was well-liked in the base or because Victor was so popular, it didn't take long for people to start teasing and making jokes.

Yvette's face turned as red as a ripe tomato. She awkwardly looked up and saw Albert and Violet standing in front of her.

Wishing she could disappear, Yvette forced herself to stay calm and pulled Victor up from the floor, apologizing profusely, "I'm so sorry about earlier. I can pay for the cleaning of your shirt."

She paused, then added, "If you need it urgently, I can take it home, hand wash it, and return it to you clean. By the way, which department do you work in? I'm Yvette Orlando, from the airline hospital. If you're worried, you can always find me there."

Victor, amused by Yvette's serious and guilty demeanor, couldn't help but laugh.

He waved his hand dismissively, "It's no big deal, just a shirt. You didn't do it on purpose, and you've already cleaned most of it, right?"

Yvette looked down at the green stain still on Victor's sleeve, feeling even more embarrassed.

"Are you okay, Victor? How could you be so careless?" Violet spoke first, her tone carrying a hint of concern.

Then she turned to Yvette with a faint smile, "Oh, Dr. Orlando, we meet again. Who knew we were destined to cross paths? If this were the old days, it might have been love at first sight."

Yvette struggled to find a response, managing only a couple of awkward laughs before falling into an uncomfortable silence.

Seeing Yvette's lack of response, Violet shook her head in boredom and pulled Albert back to the dance floor.

Albert, who hadn't said a word, didn't even glance at Yvette as he obediently followed Violet.

Watching them leave, Yvette felt a pang of pain in her heart. She bitterly asked herself what she had been expecting.

Did she really hope Albert would introduce her as his girlfriend in front of others?

She shook her head in self-mockery, thinking she was too naive. Her fingers twisted the hem of her dress, her knuckles turning white from the pressure.

"That's my friend Albert. He's quite the celebrity in the airline. I heard Violet call you Dr. Orlando, so you're really a doctor?" Victor broke the silence.

Yvette chuckled and nodded, "Yes, I'm a doctor. So... if you ever need my help, just let me know. Consider it repayment for my clumsiness tonight."

Victor took a step back, startled by Yvette's words.

Realizing her mistake, Yvette quickly waved her hands, "No, no, that's not what I meant. I was just trying to say..."

Before she could finish, Victor relaxed and spread his hands, "It's okay, Dr. Orlando. I know you didn't mean it that way, but I don't need any repayment, haha."

Yvette sighed in relief.

Victor found the "little hamster" in front of him so adorable that he almost couldn't resist patting her head.

"If you don't mind the juice on my sleeve, I'd like to invite this lovely lady to dance again. Would you do me the honor?"

Yvette knew that after the series of mishaps, it would be rude to refuse Victor's invitation.

Before the juice incident, she might have found an excuse to decline, as she didn't even know Victor's name then. He was just a stranger, a colleague.

But now, things were different. She felt she owed Victor a big favor. Yvette always believed in her principles, preferring others to owe her rather than the other way around.

After a moment of hesitation, she finally placed her hand in Victor's.

Seeing Yvette agree, Victor beamed with a bright smile.

He acted like a true gentleman, holding Yvette's hand gently without gripping it tightly, just lightly touching her delicate fingers.

As they walked to the dance floor, he kept his steps slow, ensuring Yvette felt comfortable.

His other hand didn't wrap around her waist like other dance partners but rested symbolically behind her, maintaining a respectful distance.

This series of gentlemanly actions made Yvette relax her guard considerably.
