Chapter 2 It Was My Dream.
As Lora's lips touched his cold and thin ones, he couldn't help but shiver, his body temperature rising. Not only that but, the warmth and the sweet fragrance belonging to the young girl filled his senses, slightly alleviating his headache. Finally, holding her waist he led her towards the bed.
It was then that, Lora became extremely nervous and frightened, but she clung to the determination, that she had mustered earlier, when she decided to listen to Dr. White.
She knew the person she was with was Chris, he had regained his sanity, and she was no longer afraid of anything.
Before dawn, the next day, Lora’s eyes abruptly opened. A man was lying beside her, revealing half of his astonishingly handsome face. She didn't dare linger any longer. Even if she really wanted to sleep, she had to leave quickly before this man woke up, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable.
Lora grabbed a bathrobe from the side and put it on before getting out of bed. Dr. White was waiting at the door, having already sent the servants away. As soon as he saw Lora come out, he quickly approached and helped her up, then quietly closed the door.
"Miss Scott, are you... alright?" Dr. White supported Lora back to her room.
Lora asked, "Is everything arranged?"
Dr. White replied, "Yes, everything is arranged properly. Mr. Valentine guaranteed that he won't find out it was you." Lora nodded and walked towards the bathroom.
"Miss Scott." Dr. White suddenly called out, then remained silent for a few seconds before saying, "I'm sorry, I used you like this." After speaking, Dr. White sighed and left Lora's room.
Lora stood at the bathroom door, looking at the closed bedroom door, her eyes reddened as she whispered. "You didn't use me, it has always been my dream."
Lora was brought back by Chris when she was twelve years old. Due to the brutal deaths of her mother and grandfather, Lora had an emotional breakdown for a long time after arriving at Crystal Mansion.
She wasn’t able to sleep the night through. Even when she managed to fall asleep, she would be plagued by nightmares. When she was startled awake, she would lose control and scream in fear.
But even in such a terrible state, Chris was always there with her. When she couldn't sleep, he would tell her stories. When she was scared and cried out, he would hold her and comfort her, repeatedly telling her that she didn't need to be afraid as long as he was there.
Lora's Mr. Valentine was such a powerful man. Although he was cold and indifferent to others, he was gentle and caring towards her. How could Lora not be moved by such a charming and caring man?
She loved him.
It wasn't just dependency or gratitude. It was love, the passionate feeling a woman has for a man.
So, what sacrifice was this? Being able to become Chris's woman was her lifelong dream. But no matter how fervent and crazy her love for Chris was, she could only keep it a secret in her heart.
She had made it very clear to herself, that Mr. Valentine pampered her, but he didn't love her.
If he found out that Lora had crossed the line and done something like this, he would definitely send her abroad. Lora could bury her deep love in her heart forever, but she couldn't bear to leave Chris.
...
After taking a shower, Lora went to sleep. However, in the middle of her sleep, she was awakened by a piercing ringtone on her phone. She really didn't want to answer, and even felt like throwing a tantrum, but when she saw Dr. White's caller ID, she held back.
Crystal Mansion is incredibly huge, occupying 300 hectares of land, which is equivalent to an airport. Dr. White is the private doctor of Crystal Mansion and usually waits in the main villa, discussing matters face to face.
Unless there are some matters that can't be discussed in person, then they would make a phone call. Lora's immediate reaction was that something was wrong with Chris, so she quickly answered the phone.
"Miss Scott, get ready quickly. Mr. Valentine is furious right now. The entire mansion is searching for the woman from yesterday, and they will find you soon!"
As soon as Dr. White finished speaking, Lora abruptly got up from the bed, wearing a panic-stricken expression. It's over, it's over!
In the living room of the main villa in Crystal Mansion, a man was sitting on a long, expensive black leather sofa. The man was wearing a simple black suit, with a tightly buttoned black tie fastened to the top.
His long legs were tightly wrapped in his suit pants, elegantly crossed while leaning slightly against the back of the sofa. In his hand, he held a glass of red wine, gently swaying it.
The enchanting red color intersected with the sparkling lights, reflecting his extremely cold and exquisite appearance. He was like an arrogant emperor. And in front of him were a row of bodyguards and servants, all trembling.
"Tell me, who is she?" The man spoke, his voice so low, but those few words felt like a death sentence to the servants. Making everyone tremble even more, but no one dared to utter a word.
"Mr. Valentine!" Rosen Brown, the personal bodyguard and assistant, stepped forward and respectfully reported to Chris.
"We have already investigated all the maids in Crystal Mansion and found one maid who entered the mansion yesterday with her daughter, behaving suspiciously. Moreover, this morning, the maid and her daughter left Crystal Mansion in a secretive manner."
After Rosen finished, respectfully, giving his report, he placed the information about the maid and her daughter in front of Chris. Chris briefly glanced at it, then tossed the information aside.
"Find this person for me."
Rosen received the order. "Yes!"
Chris stood up from the sofa. Even when sitting down, his presence was already formidable, but now that he stood up, with his incredible height, broad shoulders, and narrow hips, his dominance was absolutely overwhelming.
"Is Lora still not awake?" Chris inquired further.
Dr. White's heart trembled, and he hurriedly stepped forward. "Mr. Valentine, Miss Scott has started menstruating, so she is feeling unwell."
Upon hearing this, Chris furrowed his brows. "This early?"
Dr. White, who was standing beside him, immediately broke into a cold sweat. How much has he pampered her to remember her menstrual cycle so clearly?
Dr. White quickly said, "Because Miss Scott has been burdened with a heavy workload lately, she has been feeling anxious, which resulted in an early onset of her cycle."
"Let's cancel classes." Chris gave the order directly and then walked towards the upstairs with long strides.
As soon as he knocked on the door, Lora trembled inside the room. "Who, who is it?"
"It's me." A deep voice sounded from outside.
Not sure if it was because of the man's overpowering aura or if Lora was naturally nervous, she spoke with a stutter, "I-I'm not feeling well, I want to sleep, I..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the man forcefully pushed open the door and stepped in.
‘Mr. Valentine, could you please not be so rough?’ she muttered to herself.
While Lora was cursing him in her heart, the man had already walked up to her, reaching out to touch Lora's forehead. "Feeling unwell?"
Unlike his cold and domineering appearance downstairs, he always spoke a bit more gently to Lora. Lora's body really was unwell. But looking at Chris like this, she didn't feel unwell at all.
She shook her head lightly, with a slightly childish voice, "I just need to sleep for a while."
While Lora was speaking, Chris's gaze fell on her neck. She was dressed very conservatively today, tightly covering her neck. He knew this wasn't Lora's style. Chris narrowed his eyes and then directly unbuttoned Lora's collar to look at her neck...
