Chapter 10 She Wouldn't Be Fooled
At Grace's new place, Jasper had left for a bit. Bianca still looked super bummed, her nose and eyes all red as she curled up on the bed like a little hedgehog.
Grace sighed and headed to the kitchen to grab a small cake. She came back and called softly, "Bianca, check this out."
The cake smelled amazing, and it was Bianca's favorite.
Bianca looked up, her chubby little face full of sadness. When she saw the cake, her big eyes lit up but then dimmed again. She said, "Mommy, shouldn't Jasper be home by now? I miss him so much. I haven't even had a good chat with him yet!" Even her favorite cake couldn't cheer her up.
Grace's heart ached as she held Bianca close, not sure how to make her feel better.
Then, the pleasant sound of a phone ringing broke the silence. Bianca lifted her head from Grace's embrace, wiped her eyes with her small hand, and grabbed her phone. It was a call from Jasper.
Bianca answered right away. "Jasper!"
Whatever Jasper said made Bianca's mouth curl up into a big smile. She said happily, "Okay, Jasper, I'll see you tomorrow!"
Grace was puzzled. What was going on?
After hanging up, Bianca jumped into Grace's arms like a bunny, shouting excitedly, "Mommy, Jasper invited me to his house tomorrow! That's awesome. I get to see Jasper again!"
Bianca held Grace's face with both hands, her face serious. She reassured, "Mommy, don't worry. Jasper will protect me and won't let anyone know I'm his sister!"
Grace looked at Bianca, who was so happy she was bouncing on the bed like it was a trampoline, and sighed lightly.
Thank goodness Jasper came up with this idea, finally making Bianca happy.
'Oh well, as long as the kids are happy. With their smarts, Bianca's identity should stay a secret,' Grace thought to herself.
She sighed, "Alright, go to bed early, or you'll be late tomorrow."
The next morning, while Bianca was still having breakfast, two bodyguards who worked for Jasper showed up.
Bianca immediately put down her favorite cake and jumped off the dining table. She waved to Grace, "Mommy, I'm leaving! Bye, Mommy!"
She ran out like the wind, and Grace hurriedly followed her downstairs, giving a few last-minute instructions before she left.
Watching the car drive away, Grace sighed again.
The car drove out of the neighborhood and stopped at the entrance of the Montague Mansion half an hour later.
The gate slowly opened, and Bianca jumped out of the car, looking around curiously with her big eyes.
Bianca suddenly stopped, her eyes curving into crescents with a smile. "Jasper!"
Jasper, dressed in a suit, was standing at the door, his small frame standing straight. His little face only showed a smile when he saw Bianca.
Bianca ran over and hugged Jasper tightly, almost knocking him over. This scene made the bodyguards behind them chuckle.
Even the butler and maids laughed. Bianca was so sweet and cute; no wonder she could get along with the usually aloof Jasper.
Jasper took a step back to steady himself. He held Bianca's hand and led her into the yard, constantly pointing things out to her.
Bianca's big round eyes followed his finger, looking around curiously.
'So this is where Jasper grew up. The house is so big and beautiful!' she thought.
Entering the living room, Bianca immediately saw Olivia sitting on the sofa with a kind face, feeling a sense of closeness.
Jasper introduced her, "This is my great-grandmother."
Bianca immediately stepped forward, her eyes narrowing into a line with a smile, and said sweetly, "Hello, my name is Bianca. I'm Jasper's good friend."
Bianca wasn't lying. Besides being his sister, she also considered Jasper her best friend!
Her soft voice made Olivia's eyes light up; she was instantly charmed by Bianca's sweet smile.
Bianca was very pretty, especially her big, watery eyes, which looked a lot like Jasper's.
Jasper was always kind of distant, never really getting close to anyone or saying more than a few words. So, when he brought a friend home to hang out, Olivia was genuinely thrilled and took an instant liking to Bianca.
Olivia quickly put down what she was holding and reached out to Bianca. She smiled warmly, "Bianca, come here, let me give you a hug."
Bianca turned to look at Jasper, a bit hesitant. Seeing Jasper nod at her, she ran over and buried her little head in Olivia's embrace, soaking up the love from her great-grandmother.
Just as the living room was buzzing with good vibes, a deep male voice cut through. "Grandma, I'm here."
Bianca was slightly stunned and lifted her head from Olivia's embrace. Charles, dressed in a suit, walked over.
Bianca's eyes sparkled. It was the first time she had seen someone so attractive. But remembering that Charles was the one who abandoned Grace, the gleam in her eyes faded, and she glared up at him angrily.
Charles immediately noticed Bianca. Her big eyes and tender face were quite cute, but her gaze toward him wasn't very friendly.
Charles frowned, not knowing how he had offended Bianca. But he felt a strange sense of familiarity with her, even wanting to hold her in his arms.
Charles relaxed his frown and smiled slightly. "Did I offend you? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Although he was smiling, Charles's deep voice carried an authoritative presence.
Bianca blinked her eyes, suppressing the urge to bite him, and replied grumpily, "No reason. I was just admiring how handsome you are."
Bianca's words instantly made the previously quiet living room lively.
Charles's eyelid twitched, not knowing if Bianca was complimenting or mocking him.
Olivia was immediately amused, her face lighting up with joy. She hugged Bianca again and said to Charles, "Her name is Bianca, and she's Jasper's first friend to be invited home."
Olivia emphasized Bianca's importance to Jasper, genuinely liking her. She pinched Bianca's little face again. "Bianca, this is Jasper's dad," she said gently.
Bianca widened her eyes, remembering Grace's advice to be polite. She reluctantly greeted, "Hello."
Charles nodded in satisfaction, glanced at Jasper, and then turned to Olivia. "Grandma, the kids are being noisy. I'll take them out to play."
Jasper immediately shook his head. "I don't want to go! I want to stay home with Bianca!"
Charles frowned, his voice deep and authoritative. "No!"
Sensing the tense atmosphere between Charles and Jasper, Olivia had to step in to ease the situation. "Jasper, be good, go play with your dad."
Although Olivia was reluctant to part with Bianca and Jasper, she also wanted Jasper to spend more time with Charles.
Bianca also blinked at Jasper. For Bianca's sake, he agreed, "Okay."
Bianca silently held Jasper's hand. He was no match for Charles. She had to protect Jasper today.
Seeing Bianca and Jasper holding hands, Charles felt a sudden tightness in his chest, a whirlwind of emotions overwhelming him.
It was the weekend, and the zoo was packed.
Because there were so many people, Charles held each child's hand, frowning with a dark expression, but seeing the kids happy, his frown gradually relaxed.
He crouched down and picked up both children.
Bianca kicked her little legs in protest. "I don't want you to hold me, put me down!"
Jasper also pursed his lips, looking a bit unhappy.
Charles patiently explained, "There are too many people at the entrance. I'll put you down once we get inside."
Bianca blinked her big eyes, her little face puffed up. 'Hypocrite!' she thought.
Although Bianca thought this, being held by Charles made her feel a sudden sense of security. Especially seeing the sweat on Charles's temples from holding them, she felt a bit of heartache.
Bianca pouted, turning her head away, silently tallying Charles's faults. She wouldn't be fooled!
